Erotic Edge: Maybe Not What You Think

For a while, Alyssa Morin and I co-hosted a still.being.moved event we called Erotic Edge. Here’s a sample playlist. Sexy, but not all about sex. Like the erotic, in that way. Y

ou can learn about Alyssa’s amazing work here.

In my experience, the erotic is associated with life force energy. It can be physical. It can be emotional. It can be imaginal. It can be spiritual.

Alyssa describes the erotic as so much more than sexuality. It is the energy that animates all of life. The erotic gives form and substance to chaos, and brings to it a deep longing for generative contact.

In Indian mythology, Shiva, the diving masculine, holds the container — the form and the substance — and Shakti, the divine feminine, is the generative force.

In Audre Lorde’s view, the erotic is not a question only of what we do; it is a question of how acutely and fully we can feel in the doing.

To experience the erotic in yourself, whatever you are doing, I invite you to feel into all the sensations and emotions that arise..

Amen and hallelujah.
