~ Hello Fellow Educator ~
I’ve been invited to explore with you. My favorite map for exploration is the enneagram.
I’ve been using this powerful tool in individual and group settings since 2020 to help people better understand themselves and other humans ~ which leads to greater compassion for self and others.
The first step is to discern our assumptions and our habits of reactivity. This can be deep, transformative work.
It can also be fun.
I invite you to begin the process whenever you are ready by scheduling a typing interview ~ at your convenience.
If you already know your enneagram type, I’d still love to have a private conversation with you.
That way, we can get acquainted in advance of whatever work we may do as a group.

Unfamiliar with the enneagram?
The enneagram — a transformative self-inquiry tool — incorporates ages-old wisdom into modern usage. This introduction and summary provide text, audio, and film clip options for learning about it. Pick your favorites and enjoy!
A powerful adjunct tool we will explore is Tara Brach’s RAIN of Compassion, which pairs nicely with the awareness gained from enneagram inquiry.
Who I Am and What I Bring
Kathryn Thomas, Ph.D. (Education, 1996), M.Ed. (Curriculum & Instruction, 1985)
As a public school educator, my experience ranges from Pre-K through high school and, later, university-level teacher preparation. My master’s thesis involved elementary math and my doctoral dissertation examined public charter schools. Subsequent research included a range of topics including best practices, voucher programs, and technology in education. After retiring, I worked part-time as a university adjunct, supervising student teachers and teaching elementary methods courses.
I’ve studied the enneagram with several teachers — most notably, Beatrice Chestnut, Uranio Paes, and Russ Hudson. I began coaching individuals and couples and leading online study groups in 2020. I completed the Inner Life Skills coach training program in 2023.
What You Can Expect
An experience designed for you
Before we begin our work as a group, we’ll have one or more private Zoom calls to determine your type — or to get as close as we can.
During small and larger group sessions, I’ll teach a bit, then we’ll discuss what’s relevant for you. You will also be invited to text or email me with your wonderings and insights between sessions.
The flow and content of each session will reflect the types and preferences of the people participating, as well as the questions that arise from one session to the next. I’ll track your interests and needs and design the emphasis for the next session accordingly.
Finally, between sessions, based upon the topics under discussion, your questions, and my insights, I will send curated resources for you to learn from — should you so choose.
Tools for continuing your growth
Your takeaway at the end of our work will be enhanced understanding of who you are — in essence — beyond the ego’s traps of emotional passion and mental fixation. You will have useful tools and resources to continue on your path forward, if you find the enneagram useful.
Any work you decide to do with me in the future — coaching, panels and groups, and my online series for women and for men — will be available for free through the 2025-2026 school year.
What people I’ve worked with say
“It’s nice to see my evolution through this lens. I’m no longer stuck in my patterns and I’m hitting a new threshold in relationships. I’m much more fluid and vulnerable. Diving into the aspect of intensity has been huge for me in this journey. I’m feeling a difference between intensity and moderation. I’m now seeing my natural intensity as more of a superpower when it can be channeled into where it belongs.”
“Hearing what everyone shares has been very helpful, and I’ve learned a deeper way to look inside myself and feel. I don’t judge myself as much. I’m gaining a framework and tools to appreciate what’s happening to me.”
“As I accept the shadowy parts of my type inch by inch, I feel more free. I’m not as straight jacketed by my pattern. I have new levels of discernment and compassion. It’s liberating to have the tolerance to see those shadow parts.”
“I’m no longer surprised by how the enneagram is consistently spot-on for my type. It’s so true. I just fold right into it. I’m happily in my type now.”
