David Malin is the retired photographic scientist/astronomer of the Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO) and Adjunct Professor of scientific photography at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). His pioneering work on the photographic detection of extremely faint objects has been widely recognized and has led to several important scientific discoveries. The photographic processes he devised for his scientific research were expanded into a system for making the first deep, true-color photographs of astronomical objects with large telescopes, long before the digital era. Many of these historic photographs are in the permanent collections at the Science Museum in London, as well as in galleries in Liverpool, Glasgow, and Leeds in the UK, at La Villette in Paris, and in Ravenna, Italy. An exhibition of work opened at the National Academy of Science in Washington DC in 1998. Inquire for price.
